The Victorian Veteran Cycling Council Inc. (VVCC) is an oganization set up to cater for racing for veteran age competitors. Age for entry to the VVCC is 30 yrs. for female and 35 yrs. for male cyclists. These ages are taken from January 1st. in the year of a rider's birth date. The VVCC is affiliated with the Australian Veteran Cycling Council (AVCC) which has affiliates in all states and the Australian Capitol Territory (ACT).
The VVCC, through the AVCC, is now affiliated with the International Cycling Federation (ICF). This is an organization based in Belgium that was formed for a similar reason to the forming of the Australian and Victorian Veteran Cycling Councils. That is a belief that the existing cycle racing bodies were not doing enough to promote and organize cycling for veteran age racers. The ICF is comprised mainly of clubs from England and Belgium and now Australia. Many races are held in England during the Northern summer, and in Belgium it is possible to race on most days in summer. World ICF championships are held in early August, this year at Oostend, Belgium. Intense racing in Belgium would be an ideal lead up for riders going on to race at St.Johann in Austria. Entry fees for the ICF races are only a fraction of the cost of entering for St.Johann. For details regarding entries, course details for World championships, accommodation in Belgium etc. contact the VVCC secretary.
The VVCC has nine member clubs (see club info.) with a total membership for 2006 of 1200. Total membership for all of Australia is well over 3000.
The AVCC has complete autonomy ensuring that our efforts are directed only towards the benefit of veteran cyclists.
