AVCC Insurance Cover
The following is a summary of the main points of coverage. More information can be found on the
Sports Net Australia web site, under
'Sports Scheme Claims'.
Who can make a claim?
A claim can be made by;
- Any Insured Person who has been injured whilst riding or engaging in the Sport, training for, or
travelling to and from a club event or function.
- Riders must be registered before taking part in an event.
What benefits am I entitled to?
1. Medical
Payment of 80% of non-Medicare medical expenses after any reimbursment from your health fund. These
expenses include private hospital accommodation, physiotherapy, pharmacy, ambulance and dentistry.
The maximum benefit payable is $3,000. An excess of $50 applies to each claim.
Non-Medicare bills must be paid before submitting to the Insurer for reimbursement.
Due to the National Health Act 1958 no coverage is provided under this insurance for medical expenses
which are payable (whether fuly or partly) by Medicare. It is strongly recomended that separate Private
Health Insurance be taken out.
2. Weekly Benefits:
Weekly Benefits are payable as below whilst you are temporarily totally disabled and wholly and
continuously prevented from engaging is any occupation and/or attending school and/or studies.
Income Earners
80% of gross income (net of business expenses) up to a maximum of $500 per week for 52 weeks.
A 14 day excess applies.
Non-Income Earners
80% of authorised domestic help up to a maximum of $500 per week for 52 weeks.
A 14 day excess applies.
Full Time Students
80% of authorised tutorial costs up to a maximum of $500 per week for 52 weeks.
A 14 day excess applies.
3. Capital Benefits:
Death and Permanent Disabilities
Coverage is provided up to $100,000 for major disabilities and a lower amount for other disabilities.

Note the benefit limit is reduced to $10,000 for all incidents whilst training.
4. Public & Products Liability:
Public and Products Liability insurance for all affiliated Associations and Clubs including sporting activities,
fund raisers and meetings. Sum Insured $20,000,000 and claim excess of $1,000.
How do I make a claim?
When making a claim for an injury, you must;
- Advise your Club Sercretary that you wish to make a claim.
- Obtain and complete a Claim Form, available from your Club Secretary
or
Download a form
from Sports Net Australia
- the "Sports Injury Report Form" is to be completed by you, and signed by an official from your club.
- the "Attending Physician's Statement" is to be completed by your doctor.
- Return fully completed claim forms via your Club Secretary to your State Office for authorisation.
- Claims must be lodged with the insurer within 30 days of injury.
DO NOT wait for all accounts/receipts before forwarding.
- When completing th claim form, ensure that you provide as much information as possible. This may
include documents, records or even photographs for identification.
- You must attend any medical examinations or other assessment arranged by QBE Insurance.
- You must take all reasonable steps to recover from any injuries and cease participating in the Sport until
you have recovered.
Points to Note
- Only injuries which occur during the Period of Insurance are covered.
- No coverage is provided for any sickness or disease.
- Once you resume riding or participating in the Sport, all Benefits will cease and all Medical Expenses incurred
will be to your account
- No coverage is provided for injuries arising directly or indirectly from pre-existing injuries or physical or
congenial conditions. Injuries arising from AIDS, HIV, childbirth or pregnancy are not covered.
- Injury does not include any Event caused as a result of Heat-stroke and/or caused directly or indirectly by or
attributable to any sickness or disease or any Cardiac or Pulmonary or Cerebrovascular incident notwithstanding
that such incident may have been caused by or induced by or accelerated by Injury.

Australian Veteran Cycling Council Inc.
Who are the Insured Persons?
All registered riders, coaches, trainers, managers, administrators, voluntary workers, selectors, referees, umpires,
other officials or supervisors, medical officers, physiotherapists and ambulance officers, and all directors, officers,
employees, executive officers, office bearers, members and committees of the Insured and all affiliated Associations
and Clubs for whom a premium has been paid.

Veteran Cycling.
