South Pacific Veterans Cycling Championships 2016
March 25th to 27th, with the Cec Cripps Handicap on Monday 28th.

To be held over the Easter weekend at Maryborough, Victoria, Australia.

NOTE - You must have an Australian Veterans Cycling Council (AVCC) licence to compete. International riders should enclose an additional AU$80 to cover a current licence and insurance, contact Tom Finning for more details.

The South Pacific Veterans Cycling Championships are a combination of aged based events (the Time Trial and 300 metre sprints), and graded road race and Criterium events. In the age group races, riders are grouped in 5 year increments. Women start at 30 years and men at 35 years of age. In the graded events, men and women ride off together.

Entry to each event is $25. Enter all four Championship events to earn points and be eligible to win a Championship jersey.

All entries are to be done online, and no late entries will be accepted after online entries close.

Transponders are used at all VCV Open and Championship events for timing and placings. This year transponders will be supplied for all South Pacific Championship races free of charge, but there is a $5 hire fee for the Cec Cripps Open Handicap on Monday 28th March.

road map

Road Races - 12:30pm Friday 25th March.
The road races will start at 12:30pm from Burns Street, Maryborough, Victoria, near the Caravan Park.
This year, the road races will be graded scratch races, with men and women riding off in mixed bunches. The races will be held over 45km and 65km courses depending on the grade.

sprints map Straight Line 300m Sprints - 8:30am, Saturday 26th March
The sprints are held in Burns Street, Maryborough, Victoria, from 8:30am. The fastest two riders in the qualifying rounds ride off for 1st and 2nd, while the next two fastest riders ride off for 3rd place. To be held as age group events as per previous years.
NOTE - only standard road bikes can be used in the sprints.
time trial map Time Trial - 2pm, Saturday 26th March
The time trial will start on Timor Road at the Rifle Club, and is a 15km out and back course. Riders start a minute apart, with the younger men's age groups first working up to the older men, then followed by the younger to older women. First riders off at 2pm. Held as age group events as per previous years.
criterium map Criteriums - 9:30am Sunday 27th March
Start on Burns Street, the same place as the road race. To be held as graded races similar to the road races, with men and women competing together. The Criterium circuit is 1.3 kilometres. First riders start at 9:30am.

Cec Cripps 63km Handicap - Monday 28th March 9am

The Cecil Cripps is not a championship race, but a VCV sponsored Open handicap. The start is at the same place as Friday's road race, on Burns Street. The course is the same as the longer road race used on the Friday. Presentations for this event will be at the start/finish after the event.

Cec Cripps Transponder Hire - Transponders are required for all VCV Open events. If you do not own a transponder, they can be hired for the day when you register online. Cost is $5.

Entries for the Cec Cripps handicap are also $25 and are separate to the main Championship events, and require a separate online entry. Entries close midnight Sunday 20th March 2015. All entries are to be done online, and no late entries will be accepted after online entries close. No exceptions!

Championship Events
Presentations for the days events will be held at the Maryborough Highland Society on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, from 6:00pm, no bookings required. Please attend these functions to support our sponsors. The meals are very good and are very reasonably priced.

Please Note - If you have placed in an event and it is impossible for you to attend the night presentations, then please arrange for someone else to collect your prize, as they will not be posted out after the event.

Cec Cripps Handicap
Presentations for Mondays Cec Cripps handicap will be held at the start/finish after the event.


Sashes, medallions and prize money. Special prizes for fastest male and fastest female in the time trial, overall best male and female, and for overall points winners.
